Mikołaj NOWOTNIAK is a contemporary Polish artist living and working in Cantal, France. In his paintings, he transforms the colours and shapes of the surrounding nature into geometrical, half-abstract still-lifes and landscapes. He uses various mediums: watercolor, oil on canvas and pen and ink drawing.

Born in 1962, Mikołaj studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland, from which he graduated in 1993. After that, he left the capital to settle in Suwalki Landscape Park, one of the most beautiful corners of north-eastern Poland. Its spectacular landscapes and wild nature, interlaced with civilisation, take possession of his imagination and inspire him in his work. In 2017, he left Poland for the Parc des Volcans d’Auvergne in France. He settled down in a small village in the Massif Central, in Cantal, France, where he continues to try to express the world around him through his paintings.

The works are permanently exhibited at the Gallery La Trame in Anglards-de-Salers, Cantal, France.
